Leading with the Girls
2021 launched the collaboration between Oakland Lacrosse, the Oakland Athletic League, and the Oakland Unified School District to address Title IX challenges. Oakland Lacrosse will build a eight team Girls Varsity Lacrosse League using the existing program at Oakland Tech as the model to add seven new programs at Skyline High School, Oakland High School, Fremont High School, Castlemont High School, McClymonds High School, Coliseum College Prep, and Madison Park Academy.

This investment will expand access to healthy physical activity and youth development for students in Oakland public schools. Lacrosse is a confidence-boosting sport growing in racial and economic diversity and gaining the popularity in the Oakland community—offering another sports option to Oakland youth.
